1 (20 ounce) package Simply Potatoes® Shredded Hash Browns
2 1/2 cups canola oil

Tips:

  • To achieve crispy shredded hash brown crust, use a food processor to finely shred potatoes. Grated potatoes will not provide the same texture.
  • Squeeze excess moisture from the shredded potatoes using a cheesecloth or paper towels. This helps the hash browns brown properly and prevents sogginess.
  • Use a non-stick skillet to prevent the hash browns from sticking. If you don't have a non-stick skillet, grease the pan with cooking spray or butter.
  • Cook the hash browns over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pan, or the hash browns will steam instead of fry.
  • Use fresh tilapia fillets for the best flavor. If using frozen fillets, thaw them completely before cooking.
  • Season the tilapia fillets with salt, pepper, and paprika before cooking. You can also add other seasonings, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or dried herbs.
  • Cook the tilapia fillets skin-side down in a hot skillet with a little oil. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  • Serve the tilapia fillets with the shredded hash brown crust and your favorite sides, such as roasted vegetables, salad, or rice.

Conclusion:

This recipe for Simply Potatoes: Shredded Hash Brown Crusted Tilapia is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. The shredded hash brown crust adds a crispy and flavorful coating to the tilapia fillets, and the fish cooks quickly and easily. Serve this dish with your favorite sides for a complete and satisfying meal.
