Tips
- Use high-quality ingredients, especially for the sour cream and raisins. Fresh, tangy sour cream and plump, juicy raisins will make a big difference in the final flavor of the pie.
- Don't overwork the dough. Overworking the dough will make it tough. Mix it just until it comes together, then wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes before rolling it out.
- Roll out the dough thinly. The thinner the dough, the flakier it will be. Aim for a thickness of about 1/8 inch.
- Don't overfill the pie. Overfilling the pie will make it difficult to seal and may cause it to leak. Fill the pie just until the filling reaches the top of the crust.
- Bake the pie in a preheated oven. This will help to ensure that the crust cooks evenly.
- Let the pie cool completely before serving. This will allow the filling to set and the flavors to meld.
Conclusion
Settlers Sour Cream Raisin Pie is a classic American dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its flaky crust, tangy filling, and sweet raisins, this pie is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you're looking for a delicious and easy-to-make dessert, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
