Tips:

  • Choosing the Right Coffee: Opt for a medium-roast coffee with a rich, smooth flavor. Coarsely grind the coffee beans to ensure an even extraction.
  • Measuring Ingredients: Use a kitchen scale for accurate measurements, especially for the dry ingredients. This ensures consistent results every time you bake the coffee cake.
  • Mixing the Batter: Start by creaming together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk, until a smooth batter forms.
  • Preparing the Crumb Topping: Combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a small bowl. Use your fingers to work in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. This topping adds a delightful crunch to the coffee cake.
  • Baking the Coffee Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan. Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the batter. Bake in a preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. The baking time may vary depending on your oven, so keep an eye on the cake to prevent overbaking.
  • Cooling and Serving: Allow the coffee cake to cool slightly in the pan before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, slice and serve the cake dusted with powdered sugar or a drizzle of glaze for an extra touch of sweetness.

Conclusion:

The sesame coffee cake is a delightful treat that combines the rich flavors of coffee and sesame seeds. With a moist and tender crumb, a crunchy topping, and a sweet glaze, this cake is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as an afternoon snack.
