2 packages (1/4 ounce each) active dry yeast
1-1/4 cups warm water (110° to 115°)
2 tablespoons sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 large egg
1/4 cup butter, softened
4 to 4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 pound bulk spicy pork sausage
1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella or cheddar cheese
GLAZE:
1 large egg

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Add sugar, salt, Italian seasoning, 1 egg, butter and 2 cups flour; beat until smooth. Add enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. , Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. 1/2 lb bulk mild Italian sausage
1 package (8 oz) sliced baby bella mushrooms
2 cups chopped fresh spinach leaves (from 8-oz package)
1/2 cup pizza sauce (from 14-oz jar)
1 can (8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Dough Sheet
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4 oz)
1 tablespoon butter
1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F. Spray large cookie sheet with cooking spray, or line with cooking parchment paper.
  • In 10-inch nonstick skillet, cook Italian sausage 6 to 8 minutes over medium heat, until no longer pink; drain. Stir in mushrooms; cook 4 to 6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until mushrooms are lightly browned and tender. Stir in spinach leaves; cook until just starting to wilt.
