Ripe passion fruit has a dark purple color and slightly dimpled appearance. Its spicy-sweet flavor goes well with the citrus.

Number Of Ingredients 3

15 ripe passion fruit
1 1/2 cups freshly squeezed orange juice (about 4 oranges)
1/4 cup Simple Syrup for Passion-Fruit Orangeade

Steps:

  • Slice the passion fruit in half over a bowl, catching any juice. Set a fine strainer over the bowl. Using a spoon, scoop flesh into strainer; press down on seeds to extract all juice; you should have 1/4 cup juice. Reserve 2 tablespoons seeds; discard remaining seeds.
  • Combine passion-fruit juice, orange juice, simple syrup, and 1/2 cup cold water in a large pitcher; stir to combine. Fill pitcher with ice. Pour into individual glasses, and garnish each glass with 1 teaspoon seeds. Serve.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe, juicy oranges and passion fruits for the best flavor.
  • Use a citrus juicer to extract the juice from the oranges and passion fruits. This will make the process easier and faster.
  • If you don't have a citrus juicer, you can also use a blender to make the juice. Simply blend the oranges and passion fruits with a little bit of water until smooth.
  • Adjust the amount of sugar to taste. If you like your ade sweeter, add more sugar. If you prefer a tart ade, use less sugar.
  • Serve the ade immediately over ice. You can also chill the ade for later.
