I have had this recipe for many years, but I don't remember where I got it. It is very tasty!

Categories     Gelatin Salads

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 c pineapple juice
6 oz strawberry jell-o gelatin
2 pkg (10 oz each) frozen sliced strawberries, thawed
1 c chopped nuts (i have always used pecans)
2 1/2 c broken or crushed pretzels, enough to cover bottom of 9x13" pan
1 stick butter or margarine
1 1/4 c powdered sugar
12 oz cream cheese, room temperature
8 oz cool whip

Steps:

  • 1. Bring pineapple juice to a boil. Add Jell-O and stir until Jell-O is completely dissolved.
  • 2. Cool Jell-O until slightly thickened and add strawberries and chopped nuts. Refrigerate.
  • 3. Melt butter in 400°F. oven in 9X13" pan. Mix broken (or crushed) pretzels in melted butter, spread to cover pan bottom, and bake 10 minutes. Cool.
  • 4. Mix together cream cheese and powdered sugar. Spread over cooled pretzels.
  • 5. Spread Cool Whip over cream cheese layer.
  • 6. Top with slightly thickened Jell-O mixture. Refrigerate until fully set.
  • 7. May add more Cool Whip over Jell-O layer, if desired.
  • 8. Note: Although not included in original recipe, I like to add well drained crushed pineapple and thinly sliced bananas to the strawberries in the Jell-O layer.

This was a good recipe, but it was a bit too time-consuming for me. I think I would have liked it better if it had been easier to make.

This recipe was a bit too sweet for my taste. I think I would have liked it better if I had used less sugar.

This was a great recipe! I made it for a party and everyone loved it. The only thing I would change is to use a different type of pretzel. The ones I used were a bit too salty for my taste.

I was a bit skeptical about this recipe at first, but I'm so glad I tried it! It's so delicious and easy to make. I love the combination of sweet and salty, and the pretzels add a nice crunch. I will definitely be making this again.

This was so easy to make and it turned out so delicious! I used fresh strawberries and they were perfect. The pretzels added a nice salty crunch and the cream cheese mixture was creamy and smooth. I will definitely be making this again.

I've made this recipe a few times now and it's always a crowd-pleaser. The only thing I do differently is add a little bit of vanilla extract to the cream cheese mixture. It really enhances the flavor.
