Spanish Rice image

Bring the fabulous flavors of Spain to your dinner table with this easy rice dish. A tasty side that can be made ready in just 35 minutes!

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup uncooked regular long-grain rice
1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
2 1/2 cups water
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
3/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1 small green bell pepper, chopped (1/2 cup)
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
1 large tomato, seeded and chopped (1 cup)

Steps:

  • In 10-inch skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Cook rice and onion in oil about 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until rice is golden brown and onion is crisp-tender.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients except tomato. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in tomato. Cover and simmer about 5 minutes or until rice is tender.
