Spaghetti Bread image

My kids just love this. Garlic bread and spaghetti all in one...now that's wonderful. This recipe is great with left over spaghetti. My photos

Time 1h5m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 loaf Rhodes bread dough or 12 Rhodes dinner rolls, thawed to room temperature (I used the bread )
6 oz spaghetti, cooked (I used angel hair, as it won't absorb as much sauce) therefore will not dry out while baking
1 c thick spaghetti sauce
8 oz shredded mozzarella cheese ( or cubed )
1 egg, beaten
sprinkle parsley, dried
sprinkle garlic salt

Steps:

  • 1. Spray counter lightly with non-stick cooking spray (or use parchment paper). Roll loaf or combined dinner rolls into a 12x16-inch rectangle. Cover with plastic wrap and let rest for 10-15 minutes. (I found it easier to roll out; put dough on sprayed baking pan; cover for 15 - 20 minutes. Finish spreading out with greased fingers...then I didn't have to worry how I was going to get filled bread onto baking pan. This worked well for me.)
  • 2. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and let cool slightly.
  • 3. I made a quick spaghetti sauce, using ground beef, pepperoni, garlic, red bell pepper, and spices. Try to make sure sauce is thick. I used paste, sauce, and seasonings.
  • 4. Mix the sauce with the cooked and drained spaghetti.
  • 5. Place spaghetti lengthwise in a 4-inch strip down the center of dough. I topped with a little more sauce, then added the cheese.
  • 6. Make cuts 1 ½-inches apart on long sides of dough to within ½-inch of filling.
  • 7. Begin braid by folding top and bottom strips toward filling. Then braid strips left over right, right over left. Finish by pulling last strip over and tucking under braid.
  • 8. If doing the braid on your counter; carefully lift the braid onto the sprayed baking sheet. Brush with egg and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and parsley (I added garlic salt).
  • 9. Bake at 350 for 40 - 45 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly and slice to serve. Delicious!

This recipe was a disaster. The bread didn't rise properly and the spaghetti was mushy.

I didn't like this dish at all. The bread was too dry and the spaghetti was overcooked.

I thought this dish was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything special either.

The bread was a little dry for my taste, but the spaghetti was delicious.

I'm not a huge fan of spaghetti, but I loved this dish. The bread was so good that it made up for the spaghetti.

This recipe was a little more work than I expected, but it was worth it. The bread was amazing and the spaghetti was cooked perfectly.

I love the combination of spaghetti and bread in this dish. It's like a pasta dish and a sandwich all in one!

I was pleasantly surprised by how well this dish turned out. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly and the sauce was flavorful.

This spaghetti bread was a hit with my family! It was easy to make and so delicious. The cheesy, garlicky bread was the perfect complement to the spaghetti.
