Portuguese Pinto Beans image

Reminds me of the way my mom use to make her beans.

2 c dried pinto beans
1 tsp cooking oil
1 medium onion, chopped
4 clove fresh garlic.chopped
1 1/2 lb linguesa, sliced
1 can(s) tomato sauce
1 1/4 tsp cloves
1 Tbsp chili powder
salt and pepper to taste
1 green bell pepper chopped
PORTUGUESE PINTO BEANS

Steps:

  • 1. Soak beans overnight or bring to a boil then let stand 1 hour.
  • 2. Cook until tender.
  • 3. Brown onion and garlic in oil. Add linguesa and brown lightly.
  • 4. Add tomato sauce, cloves, chill powder, salt and pepper. Add the ingredience to beans.
  • 5. Cook for 30 mins. longer until done.
