Orange-Cloved Hot Cider with Brandy image

1/2 gallon fresh apple cider
20 whole cloves
1 navel orange
One 1-inch piece fresh ginger, sliced
1 cinnamon stick
1/2 cup brandy, bourbon or rum

Steps:

  • Heat the cider in a large saucepan or Dutch oven over low heat. Insert the cloves in the orange, spaced a little apart. Add the orange to the cider, along with the ginger and cinnamon. Bring to a boil, then remove from the heat and add the brandy.
