Not Your Momma's Shepards Pie image

Bells Poultry Seasoning makes this different. We also use 1/2 ground pork and 1/2 gound lamb...no beef.

1 lb ground lamb
1 lb gound pork
2 medium onion, chopped
2 1/8 c red wine
salt and pepper
1/2 c flour
1/2 c water
1 pkg frozen corn
mashed potatoes
1 Tbsp bells poultry seasoning

Steps:

  • 1. This recipe makes 2 pies! Heat a small amount of oil in a fry pan, add onions. When onions are soft add the pork and lamb.
  • 2. Brown meat. Add salt, pepper, bells poultry seasoning, and wine. Let reduce a bit and taste adjust seasonings if needed.
  • 3. Mix flour and water, then add to the fry pan with the meat. Cook until thickened.
  • 4. Add meat to two pie dishes, top with frozen corn and top with mashed potatoes.
  • 5. Place in 350 oven for 35 mins...freeze the extra one!
