KELLY'S BUTTER BEAN CHILI image

1 large sweet onion chopped
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 1/4 lb. lean ground beef
1 4 oz. can diced green chiles
1 chopped green bell pepper
1 28 oz. can tomato sauce
1 28 oz. can whole tomatoes (diced)
2 tbsp. chili powder
1 tbsp. cumin
3 tsp. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 15 oz. can butter beans
1 27 oz. can kidney beans
1 15 oz. can white beans

Steps:

  • In a skillet carmelize chopped onions. Add garlic. Reduce heat and set aside. In the same skillet brown the lean ground beef and drain. In a large pot combine onion mixture and ground beef. Add green chiles, and green pepper. Cook on medium heat for 5 min. Add tomato sauce, diced whole tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, cayenne pepper, and brown sugar. Let simmer for 10 min. Add rinsed beans and simmer for 30 min. Top with a sprinkle of cheddar cheese and ENJOY!
