Hornet's Nest Cake image

I have been making these for so many years and have forgotten where the original recipe came from. My Dad loved this cake its rich, butterscotchy, and all it needs is a dollop of whipped cream. The name? The cake does resemble a honeycomb kinda hornet's nest when the butterscotch pieces melt a little

I'm not sure what went wrong, but my cake didn't turn out very well. It was dry and the frosting was too sweet.

I didn't have any peanut butter chips, so I used chopped peanuts instead. It was still delicious.
