Grandma's Breakfast Casserole image

Every year my Mom would make this breakfast casserole on Christmas morning. It is a tradition that I continued with my kids, and actually is a family favorite to have anytime including for supper! Its great because it can be made the night before so all you have to do is pop it in the oven!

Time 1h30m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 lb bulk breakfast sausage
6 slice white bread, cubed
6 eggs
1 c milk
1 c cheddar cheese, shredded
1 can(s) campbell's golden mushroom soup
1/2 can(s) milk

Steps:

  • 1. Butter 9x13 glass pan, and spread bread cubes in the pan (original recipe says to cut the crusts off but my family likes the crust so I don't).
  • 2. Whisk together the eggs and 1 cup milk, pour over bread crusts. And sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  • 3. Brown sausage, and sprinkle on top of cheese.
  • 4. Mix together the soup and 1/2 can of milk, spread on top of the sausage.
  • 5. Bake at 350 degrees for about an hour, or until eggs are set.

This casserole was a little too eggy for my taste. I think I would use less eggs next time. The flavor was good, though, and the casserole was nice and fluffy.

I'm not a big fan of breakfast casseroles, but I thought I'd give this one a try. I was pleasantly surprised! The casserole was very flavorful and the cheese topping was perfect. I would definitely make this again.

This casserole was a little bland for my taste. I think I would add some more spices next time. The texture was good, though, and it was a nice, easy recipe to follow.

This casserole was a disappointment. It was dry and bland. I think I would add more milk or cream next time. The flavor was also a little off. I think I would use less salt next time.

This is my go-to breakfast casserole recipe. It's always a crowd-pleaser, and it's so easy to make. I love that I can use up leftover ham or sausage in this recipe, too.
