In the lean years of our marriage, I had to get pretty creative with a lb. of hamburger. This is just one of the staples that kept us going. We affectionately called it "Glop".

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 lb hamburger
1 can(s) cream of chicken or mushroom soup
1 pkg tater tots
1 can(s) corn
dash(es) salt and pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Brown or boil and drain 1 lb. ground beef.
  • 2. Once drained of water and fat, mix in 1 can Cream of Mushroom soup. For an added taste, you can mix half and half mushroom and celery. Optional: Mix in a can of drained corn or your favorite veggie. I don't recommend frozen.
  • 3. In the baking dish, cover the top with tater tots. Bake at the temperature recommended on the tots package. The drop down menu has specific times on it but it's better to go with the package directions. Leave in a bit longer if you like your tots crispy. Serve with a salad and rolls. This is a cheap dish that is a hit with the "meat and potatoes" crowd.

I followed the recipe exactly, but my chicken didn't come out as tender as I would have liked.

I followed the recipe exactly, but my chicken didn't come out as tender as I would have liked. I think I might have overcooked it. Next time, I'll cook it for a shorter amount of time.

This recipe was a bit too spicy for me, but my husband loved it. He said it was the best chicken he's ever had. I would recommend using less cayenne pepper if you don't like spicy food.

I'm not a big fan of chicken, but this dish changed my mind. The sauce is so good, I could eat it with a spoon. And the chicken is so tender and juicy, it melts in your mouth.
