Yield Makes 2 - 9" pies

Number Of Ingredients 14

Pie crust for 2-9" pies
Cake Batter:
1/2 Cup shortening 1 1/2 Cups sugar
2 eggs
2 Cups sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 Cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Chocolate Sauce:
1 Cup sugar
1/2 Cup cocoa
1 Cup water
1 tsp. vanilla

Steps:

  • Make pie crusts for 2-9" pies. Place in the pie plates & crimp edges. Cake Batter Cream together in mixer: 1/2 Cup shortening 1 1/2 Cups sugar 2 eggs Add: 2 Cups sifted flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt Alternately with: 1 Cup milk 1 tsp. vanilla Chocolate Sauce: Mix together in a saucepan: 1 Cup sugar 1/2 Cup cocoa 1 Cup water 1 tsp. vanilla Heat until hot but do not boil. Pour the cake batter into pie crusts, then pour the chocolate sauce over the top. Sauce will settle to the bottom. Bake at 375 degrees for 40-45 minutes. Cool and serve.
