Crunchy Tuna Waldorf Salad image

A nice surprise to the traditional Waldorf Salad!

1 can(s) 9 1/4 oz. can tuna, packed in water (drained and flaked)
1 large apple, cored and chopped
1/3 c celery, chopped
1/3 c walnuts, chopped
1/3 c raisins, currants or chopped pitted dates
1/2 c plain nonfat yogurt (or lowfat)
1/4 c mayonnaise
large lettuce leaves
1/2 c shredded cheddar or monterey jack cheese (2 ounces)

Steps:

  • 1. In a medium bowl, combine tuna, apple, celery, walnuts and raisins; set aside.
  • 2. In a small bowl combine yogurt and mayonnaise. Add to tuna-fruit mixture; toss gently. Cover, chill before serving.
  • 3. To serve, line 4 salad plates with lettuce leaves. Sprinkle cheese over lettuce. Spoon tuna-fruit mixture on top of cheese.
