There's a lot going on in this complex rye whiskey cocktail named after an old restaurant in New Orleans.

1 ½ cups ice
1 fluid ounce rye whiskey
¾ fluid ounce Benedictine® liqueur
¾ fluid ounce sweet vermouth
3 dashes aromatic bitters (such as Peychaud's®)
1 Maraschino cherry for garnish

Steps:

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
  • Pour in whiskey, Benedictine, sweet vermouth, anise liqueur and bitters. Cover shaker and shake several times to combine.
  • Stir well and strain into a cocktail glass; garnish with a cherry.
