I'm not a big fan of caramel, but I loved these bars. The chocolate chips and the cookie crust were the perfect balance to the sweetness of the caramel.

The bars were a bit dry. I think I overbaked them. Next time I'll check them a few minutes earlier.

These bars are a bit too sweet for my taste. Next time I'll reduce the amount of sugar in the caramel filling.

I didn't have any caramel on hand so I used a can of dulce de leche instead. It worked perfectly and the bars were still delicious.

I used dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet and they turned out great. The dark chocolate added a richer flavor to the bars.
