This recipe was passed to me from another "Navy wife" back in the 80's. It's a little on the sweeter side but don't let that scare you! It's just delicious on a spinach salad with red onion slices, bacon and fresh mushrooms. Some of my friends dress the salad with the dressing while it's warm, My family likes it chilled! Gotta...

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 c salad oil, vegtable or canola
1 c ketchup (i use hunt's) but your choice
1/2 c suger
1/2 c apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce (i actually do 3 shakes)
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Measure everything in a small (2 qt) saucepan and whisk until you no longer see any oil separation.
  • 2. place pan on medium heat, heat stirring until sugar is dissolved, it doesn't need to come to a boil, just until the graininess is gone. cool and put in your MOST decorative container!
  • 3. This dressing keeps well in the fridge. I've had some for 6 weeks and it tasted perfect. Just give it a GOOD SHAKE!!!

I'm not sure what I did wrong, but my dressing turned out really watery. I think I might have added too much vinegar.

I love the flavor of this dressing, but it's a little too thick for my taste. I think I'll try thinning it out with some water next time.

I thought this dressing was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it didn't wow me either. I probably won't be making this again.

Not a fan of this dressing. It was too sweet for my taste and didn't have much flavor. I won't be making this again.
