Bea's Thin BBQ Sauce image

This is a thin BBQ sauce we use on our chicken or pork at times. I like doubling the recipe so I'll always have it on hand. It's also a good base to make sticky sauce for grilled chicken when we prefer something a little different. 7/21/14

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 c vinegar
1 c water
1/2 c brown sugar, firmly packed
2 Tbsp molasses
1 tsp garlic powder
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
1/8 tsp onion powder
1/8 tsp dry mustard
salt & pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • 1. Add all ingredients to a saucepan as listed. Slowly bring to a boil on medium heat then decrease heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes or so. As far as the vinegar, I use either apple cider or white.
  • 2. I have been told that it doesn't require refrigeration but I store mine in the fridge. It lasts indefinitely.
  • 3. NOTE: When I want a sticky sauce I simply add about 3 TBSP of honey, about 1/4 cup corn syrup, about 2/3 cup catchup and about 1/4 cup butter to 1 cup of the above recipe. All of these ingredients are approximate amounts.

I'm not sure what went wrong, but my sauce turned out terrible. It was too thick and had a burnt taste.

I would not recommend this sauce to anyone. It's a waste of time and money.

This sauce was a disappointment. It was bland and lacked flavor.

I found this sauce to be a bit too thin. I would have liked it to be thicker so that it would stick to the meat better.

This sauce is a little too sweet for my taste, but it's still good. I would recommend using less sugar if you don't like sweet sauces.

I've tried a lot of BBQ sauces, and this one is by far the best. It has a unique flavor that I can't get enough of.

This sauce is so easy to make and it tastes incredible. I love that it's not too thick or too thin. It's the perfect consistency for basting or dipping.

This BBQ sauce is amazing! It's the perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and smoky. I used it on chicken, ribs, and pork, and it was delicious on everything. I'll definitely be making this again.
