Baked Spam image

This was on the can itself many years ago. I am sending what I make now, there are obviously changes from the original. My children/grandchildren think that this is the only way to cook Spam!

Time 35m

Yield 3-4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 (12 ounce) can Spam
2 teaspoons water (approx.)
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vinegar
1/2 teaspoon prepared mustard
1 dash ground cloves

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Place Spam on oven proof dish, glass is best.
  • Poke 5 - 7 holes in top of Spam. I use the end of a wooden spoon.
  • Mix remaining ingredients together. Spoon about 2 teaspoons on top and place in oven.
  • Bake about 30 minutes, pouring sauce on top every 10 minutes or so, until all sauce is gone.
  • I slice it thin and serve with parsley potatoes and peas.

This is the best baked spam recipe I've ever tried. The spam is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The glaze is also amazing.

This recipe is a great starting point, but I think it could be improved with a few tweaks. I would add more spices to the glaze, and I would also cook the spam for a shorter amount of time.

I'm not sure what went wrong, but my spam turned out dry and tough. I think I might have overcooked it.

I followed the recipe exactly, but my spam didn't come out as crispy as I would have liked. I think I'll try cooking it for a few minutes longer next time.

This dish is a bit too sweet for my taste, but I think I can fix that by using a different glaze next time.

I've never been a fan of spam, but this recipe changed my mind. The salty, smoky flavor of the spam pairs perfectly with the sweet and tangy glaze.
