Number Of Ingredients 4

3-5 oz freshly brewed coffee
1 oz heavy cream
1-2 tsp sugar
1 oz Irish whiskey

Steps:

  • 1. Use fresh, cold water to make coffee - 2 rounded tablespoons per 6 oz. cup (makes a very strong coffee).
  • 2. Fill a 6-8 oz mug with hot water (to warm).
  • 3. In a bowl, whip or froth cream lightly, so it is still pourable.
  • 4. Empty water from mug. Add hot coffee and sugar; stir to dissolve.
  • 5. Add whiskey; stir.
  • 6. Hold a spoon upside down over mug and slowly pour the cream over the spoon, allowing it to float onto the top of the coffee.
  • 7. Do not stir - drink through the cream.

This was my first time making Irish coffee, and it turned out great! I was worried it would be too strong, but the sweetness of the sugar and cream balanced out the whiskey nicely.

I've been making Irish coffee for years, and this recipe is by far the best. The combination of coffee, whiskey, and cream is perfect and just melts in your mouth.
