Au Gratin Cabbage image

MY HERITAGE is Russian, and I have always loved cabbage. My husband didn't like it at all - until I prepared it this way. Since we're diet-conscious these days, I scaled down the cheese and use low-fat milk, but it's still delicious. -Katherine Stallwood, Richland, Washington

I'm not sure what went wrong, but my cabbage was still crunchy after cooking it for the recommended time. I had to cook it for an extra 10 minutes to get it to soften.

I've tried many au gratin cabbage recipes, but this one is by far the best. The addition of bacon and Gruyère cheese really takes it to the next level.
