A little bit of everything cookie image

I created this recipe when I was having a craving.I have made them for VBS and it was a big hit. With the whole wheat flour and oatmeal the children were eating high fiber and begging for more.

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 c butter
1 1/4 c shortening
3 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1 1/2 c sugar
1 Tbsp baking powder
3/4 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
6 large eggs
1 Tbsp vanilla
4 1/2 c whole wheat flour
6 c quick rolled oats
1 c peanut butter chips
1 c semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c butterscotch chips

Steps:

  • 1. You could put in 1 ½ cups of chopped walnuts or pecans but my children do not like nuts in their cookies. I have doubled the recipe for VBS and then added in white and milk chocolate chips also.
  • 2. Preheat at 375° In a mixing bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon. Beat until combined, scraping sides of bowl. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Beat in as much of the flour as you can. Stir in remaining flour. Stir in rolled oats. Stir in chips and/or nuts. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are light brown. Cool on cookie sheet 1 minute.

These cookies were a complete disaster. I followed the recipe exactly, but they came out burnt and inedible.

These cookies were really easy to make, but they didn't turn out very well. They were too crumbly.

I'm not a huge fan of cookies, but these were really good. They were soft and chewy with a nice crispy edge.

These cookies are a great way to use up leftover ingredients. I always have a bag of chocolate chips and nuts in my pantry, so these cookies are a perfect way to use them up.
