Steps:
- Grab a large bowl and some measuring cups, along with your ingredients.
- Plop 3 cups of powdered sugar in the bowl.
- Take two sticks of butter or 1/3 cup margarine and put it in a coffee mug. Then, heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds, or until it is sofened enough to be mixed up.
- While you wait, you can measure out 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of vanilla. Next, pour the softened butter/margarine into the mixture.
- Lastly, add your estimated amount of milk and mix it all together until it is creamy and there is no extra powder at the bottom.
- If the mixture is to spreadable, add some more powdered sugar. If it is not spreadable enough, then simply throw in more milk.
Tips:
- Use unsalted butter. This will help you control the amount of salt in the frosting.
- Bring the butter and cream cheese to room temperature before using. This will make them easier to mix and will help the frosting to be smooth and creamy.
- Add the vanilla extract and powdered sugar gradually. This will help to prevent the frosting from becoming too thick or too thin.
- Beat the frosting until it is light and fluffy. This will incorporate air into the frosting and make it smooth and creamy.
- If the frosting is too thick, add a little bit of milk or cream. If the frosting is too thin, add a little bit more powdered sugar.
- Use the frosting immediately or store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Conclusion:
This quick vanilla frosting is a delicious and versatile frosting that can be used on a variety of desserts. It is easy to make and can be customized to your liking. Whether you are looking for a simple frosting for a weeknight dessert or a more elaborate frosting for a special occasion, this recipe is sure to please.
