APPLESAUCE (EASY & QUICK)

Categories     Apple

Number Of Ingredients 5

6 cups apples, peeled, cored and chopped
3/4 cup water
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup white sugar

Steps:

  • In a 2 quart saucepan over medium heat, combine apples, water, cinnamon, and cloves. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes.
  • Stir in sugar, and simmer 5 more minutes.

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples. For applesauce, you want apples that are sweet and tart, with a firm texture. Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn apples are all good choices.
  • Peel and core the apples. This is the most time-consuming part of making applesauce, but it's worth it to get a smooth, lump-free sauce. You can use a vegetable peeler or a sharp knife to peel the apples, and a melon baller or apple corer to remove the cores.
  • Cook the apples until they are soft. You can do this on the stovetop or in a slow cooker. If you're using the stovetop, bring the apples to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the apples are soft. If you're using a slow cooker, cook the apples on low for 6-8 hours, or until they are soft.
  • Mash the apples. Once the apples are soft, you can mash them with a potato masher or an immersion blender. If you want a smooth applesauce, you can also strain it through a fine-mesh sieve.
  • Add your desired flavorings. Once the applesauce is mashed, you can add your desired flavorings. Some popular options include cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and vanilla extract. You can also add sugar or honey to taste.

Conclusion:

Applesauce is a delicious and versatile food that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It's also a great way to use up leftover apples. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make your own delicious applesauce at home.
