From Sweet & Simple Living website, your kids will love this savory twist on Monkey Bread. Made in a Bundt pan (half the recipe), it is a beautiful appetizer served with warmed pizza sauce in the center in a ramekin. I usually make half of the recipe to serve 4 with some leftovers as a main dish with a side salad.

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 (8 ounce) cans refrigerated pizza dough or 2 (8 ounce) cans biscuits
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese or 2 cups your favorite cheese
2 tablespoons italian seasoning
1/3 cup olive oil or 1/3 cup melted butter
1 (8 ounce) package pepperoni

1/2 teaspoon fresh garlic (optional) or 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
1 (8 ounce) jar pizza sauce

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Cut pizza dough or biscuits into quarters.
  • Cut the pepperoni into smaller pieces.
  • Mix all the ingredients (except pizza sauce) in a bowl and toss so that the oil is spread evenly on each piece of dough, place in greased Bundt Pan (if making half the recipe) or 13x9 inch greased pan if making whole recipe.
  • Bake for about 30 minutes (or until the top is brown and the center is thoroughly cooked) TIP: Be sure to check it in the middle before you pull it out. If the middle is still not cooked thoroughly be sure to leave it in another 5 minutes at a time until it's done.
  • Flip over on to a plate while it's still hot.
  • Serve with pizza sauce.

Tips:

  • For the best results, use fresh pizza dough. You can use store-bought or make your own. If you're using store-bought dough, let it come to room temperature before using.
  • To make the monkey bread easier to pull apart, use a sharp knife to score the dough before baking. You can also use kitchen scissors to cut the dough into pieces.
  • If you don't have a bundt pan, you can use a 9x13 inch baking dish. Just be sure to adjust the baking time accordingly.
  • Serve the monkey bread warm with your favorite dipping sauce. Some popular choices include marinara sauce, ranch dressing, or Alfredo sauce.
