Steps:
- Preheat a grill pan or large nonstick griddle over medium to medium high heat.
- Build your sandwiches: place 2 or 3 slices of prosciutto on 1 piece of bread.
- Top with an even layer of roasted red pepper and an even layer of mozzarella.
- Top with another slice of bread.
- Drizzle the tops of the assembled sandwiches with olive oil.
- Place the olive oil coated bread face down on the grill or griddle and drizzle the opposite side with addition olive oil.
- Weight the sandwiches down with a tin foil covered brick or a heavy skillet filled with a sack of flour (If using a panini maker-- just close the lid-- no need to flip).
- Press the sandwiches for 2 or 3 minutes on each side, then serve immediately.
Tips:
- Choose high-quality ingredients, especially the bread, prosciutto, and cheese. Fresh, flavorful ingredients will make a big difference in the final product.
- Don't be afraid to experiment with different types of bread. A hearty sourdough or ciabatta bread will hold up well to the fillings, while a softer focaccia bread will provide a more delicate flavor.
- Slice the prosciutto and cheese thinly so that they melt easily and evenly.
- Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise or pesto on the bread to help hold the sandwich together and add flavor.
- Don't overcrowd the pan when cooking the sandwiches. This will prevent them from cooking evenly.
- Cook the sandwiches over medium heat until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve the sandwiches immediately with your favorite sides, such as a simple green salad or a bowl of tomato soup.
Conclusion:
Prosciutto, roasted red pepper, and mozzarella panini is a delicious and easy-to-make sandwich that is perfect for lunch or dinner. With its combination of salty prosciutto, sweet roasted red peppers, and creamy mozzarella cheese, this sandwich is sure to please everyone at the table. So next time you're looking for a quick and tasty meal, give this panini a try. You won't be disappointed!
