"I like making this cool potato recipe on warm days. I reduced the oil quite a bit and added a little more honey mustard, giving it a richer taste. Sausage, too, adds good flavor to this hearty salad!" Ginette Starshak - Decatur, Illinois

Tips:

  • Choose the freshest potatoes possible. Yukon Gold or red potatoes are great options, as they hold their shape well when cooked.
  • Boil the potatoes until they are tender but still firm. You don't want them to be mushy.
  • While the potatoes are boiling, cook the smoked sausage. This can be done in a skillet over medium heat or on the grill.
  • Once the potatoes and sausage are cooked, let them cool slightly before assembling the salad This will help to prevent the salad from becoming watery.
  • Add your favorite vegetables and mix-ins to the salad. Some popular options include celery, onions, hard-boiled eggs, and pickles.
  • Dress the salad with a mayonnaise-based dressing. You can use a store-bought dressing or make your own. Be sure to season the dressing to taste with salt, pepper, and other spices.
