Tips:

  • Choose the right potatoes: Yukon Gold or russet potatoes are the best choices for this recipe, as they hold their shape well and have a creamy texture.
  • Don't overcook the potatoes: The potatoes should be cooked until they are tender, but still have a little bit of bite to them. If they are overcooked, they will become mushy.
  • Use high-quality cheese: The cheese is one of the most important ingredients in this recipe, so it's important to use a high-quality cheese that melts well. A sharp cheddar cheese or a combination of cheddar and mozzarella cheese works well.
  • Don't skimp on the butter: The butter adds richness and flavor to the casserole. Don't be afraid to use a generous amount.
  • Season the casserole well: Salt and pepper are the basic seasonings for this recipe, but you can also add other seasonings, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika, to taste.
