Number Of Ingredients 10

1 bag(s) ore-ida hash browns, thawed (sandy used a 30 oz bag of hash browns, or 6 cups thawed)
2 c sour cream
2 c shredded cheddar
1 stick butter, melted
1-2 can(s) cream of chicken soup
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
TOPPING:
2 c cornflakes (sandy uses crushed ritz crackers instead)
1/4 c melted butter

Steps:

  • 1. Mix ingredients for casserole. Put in buttered 9x13 pan. Add topping. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-60 min.

Tips:

  • Use fresh, russet potatoes. They are the best type of potato for this casserole because they are starchy and hold their shape well.
  • Peel and slice the potatoes evenly. This will help them cook evenly.
  • Don't overcook the potatoes. They should be tender but still slightly firm.
  • Use a variety of cheeses. This will give the casserole a more complex flavor.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different toppings. You can use bread crumbs, crushed crackers, or even potato chips.
  • Let the casserole cool slightly before serving. This will help it set and make it easier to slice.

Potato casserole is a classic comfort food that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own personal taste. Whether you like it cheesy, creamy, or crunchy, there is a potato casserole recipe out there for you. So next time you are looking for a hearty and satisfying dish, give potato casserole a try.
