Time 1h10m

Number Of Ingredients 11

4-6 pork chops
garlic salt and black pepper for seasoning
1/4 c canola oil
3 medium potatoes, russets, scrubbed and sliced into 1/4-inch slices
1 medium onion, sliced into 1/4-inch slices
1 can(s) (10.75 oz) cream of chicken soup, undiluted
1 can(s) (10.75 oz) cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1 c sour cream
1/2 c milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 375 F.
  • 2. Season the pork chops with garlic salt and black pepper.
  • 3. In a large skillet, heat the oil until hot and brown the pork chops lightly on both sides. Set aside.
  • 4. In a large bowl, combine the soup, sour cream, milk, salt, and pepper.
  • 5. Add the sliced potatoes and onions. Stir well to coat.
  • 6. Spread the contents of the bowl into a 9x13 inch baking dish which has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
  • 7. Place the pork chops on top of the potato mixture. Cover with foil and cook for @ 40 minutes. Remove the foil and continue cooking for 10-15 more minutes until the pork chops and potatoes are done.

Tips:

  • Buy the right pork chops. Look for pork chops that are at least 1 inch thick and have a good amount of marbling. This will help ensure that they stay juicy and flavorful during cooking.
  • Season the pork chops well. Use a combination of salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to season the pork chops before cooking. This will help to enhance their flavor.
  • Cook the pork chops over medium heat. Cooking the pork chops over medium heat will help to prevent them from drying out. Cook them for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until they are cooked through.
  • Don't overcook the potatoes. The potatoes should be cooked until they are tender but still have a little bit of bite to them. If you overcook them, they will become mushy.
  • Use a good quality cheese. The type of cheese you use will have a big impact on the flavor of the casserole. Use a cheese that melts well and has a good flavor, such as cheddar, mozzarella, or Gruyère.

Conclusion:

Pork chop and potato casserole is a classic comfort food dish that is easy to make and always a hit with the family. Follow these tips to make the best pork chop and potato casserole: buy the right pork chops, season them well, cook them over medium heat, don't overcook the potatoes, and use a good quality cheese.
