POMEGRANATE PASSION SMOOTHIE
Pomegranate juice is packed with antioxidants. With all the refrigerated pomegranate juice in the stores now, you don't have to squeeze the living daylights out of each little pom' nugget yerself. ;) Often stores will carry this bottled juice in the produce department. I love the ease of smoothies, especially in my Magic Bullet, which is smaller and less cumbersome than a blender. Recipe is courtesy of Stonyfield Farm.

FROZEN STRAWBERRY-COCONUT SMOOTHIE WITH POMEGRANATE MOLASSES
Fruity pomegranate molasses is the perfect sweetener for this thick strawberry smoothie. This summer I bought a flat of strawberries, and soon afterward realized that they were going to go off before I had a chance to use them. So I hulled them and froze them in small freezer bags (a heaping cup, or 6 ounces, per bag), and now I'm using them for smoothies. When I was working on this smoothie I felt that it needed something to sweeten it, but what? I looked in my cupboard and saw a bottle of pomegranate molasses, and voilà! Now I know that pomegranate molasses, with its fruity, tangy yet sweet flavor, is perfect for red fruit smoothies of all kinds. This one is enriched with cashews, soaked in water for a few hours or overnight, chia seeds (also soaked), and oatmeal.

Tips:
- Utilize Fresh Pomegranate Seeds: For the best flavor and nutritional benefits, use fresh pomegranate seeds rather than store-bought juice or frozen seeds.
- Balance Sweetness: Adjust the sweetness of the smoothie according to your preference by adding more or less honey or maple syrup.
- Enhance Creaminess: For a creamier smoothie, use frozen bananas or avocado. Alternatively, add a scoop of Greek yogurt or cottage cheese.
- Protein Boost: To increase the protein content, add a scoop of protein powder, Greek yogurt, or almond butter.
- Spice It Up: Incorporate a pinch of ground ginger, cinnamon, or cardamom for a warm and aromatic flavor.
- Omega-3 Boost: To enhance the nutritional value, add a tablespoon of chia seeds or flaxseeds.
- Adjust Liquid: Depending on your desired consistency, adjust the amount of liquid (milk, yogurt, or water) you add.
