Time 6h20m

Number Of Ingredients 6

15 ounces pineapple chunks with juice
1 cup soy sauce
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 cloves garlic (minced)
1 teaspoon minced ginger
1 pound skirt steak (sliced very thin (carne asada works GREAT))

Steps:

  • Mix together all ingredients, excluding beef. Set aside about 1/2 cup of the sauce, cover and refrigerate.
  • Place beef in a Ziploc bag and pour marinade over. Press out all the air, seal, and marinate for at least 6 hours (overnight works great).
  • Over prepared grill on medium-high heat, grill steak a minute or two on each size until cooked to your desired doneness (with the steak being so thin, you don't have to grill it for too long).
  • Place beef in a large bowl, pour remaining sauce over the cooked beef and stir until well covered. Serve with rice and/or grilled fresh pineapple.

Categories     Steak

Time 35m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/3 cup pineapple juice
1/3 cup low sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup green onion, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced peeled
1 tablespoon honey
1 garlic clove, minced
1 1/2 lbs flank steaks
cooking spray

Steps:

  • Combine first 6 ingredients in a large zip-top bag; add steak to bag. Seal and marinate in refrigerator 3 hours, turning once.
  • Prepare grill.
  • Remove steak from bag, reserving marinade. Place steak on grill rack coated with cooking spray; grill 20 minutes or until desired degree of doneness, turing and basting frequently with the reserved marinade. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting diagonally across the grain into thin slices.

Tips:

  • To tenderize the flank steak, use a meat mallet or the back of a heavy knife to pound it until it is about 1/4-inch thick.
  • To make the marinade, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and green onions in a large bowl.
  • Add the flank steak to the marinade and turn to coat. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
  • When ready to cook, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the flank steak and cook for 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.
  • While the steak is cooking, make the pineapple salsa by combining the pineapple, red onion, cilantro, and lime juice in a small bowl.
  • Serve the flank steak with the pineapple salsa and rice.

Conclusion:

This Polynesian flank steak recipe is a quick and easy way to make a delicious and flavorful meal. The steak is tender and juicy, and the pineapple salsa is the perfect complement. This recipe is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
