TERIYAKI TURKEY BURGERS WITH GRILLED PINEAPPLE SLICES

Teriyaki Turkey Burgers With Grilled Pineapple Slices image

Healthful and Satisfying. These moist turkey burgers are sure to please your guests, great on a barbeque or in a pan. No condiments required! I developed this recipe because I was curious about whether I could make a turkey burger without using eggs or bread crumbs as filler. If you are planning to grill these on a barbeque, it helps to make the patties early and freeze them first. This will allow it to hold shape long enough for the turkey to release the small amount of fat that will hold it together.

Provided by Mike Schafer

Categories     Lunch/Snacks

Time 2h10m

Yield 4 Burgers, 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 lb lean ground turkey
2 cups grated carrots

1 (16 ounce) can sliced pineapple (in juice, not syrup)
4 whole grain buns

Steps:

  • Drain crushed pineapple; combine drained pineapple with carrots, onions, ginger and teriyaki sauce. Allow to marinate one hour.
  • Strain the carrots, pineapple and onions, reserving the teriyaki mixture.
  • Add the strained carrots, pineapple and onions to the turkey meat. Mix thoroughly. Form the mixture into even patties and freeze until ready to grill.
  • Drain the juice from the sliced pineapple, replace it with the reserved teriyaki mixture. Allow to marinate for an hour or more.
  • Grill frozen patties on medium heat, flip when patty turns white around the edges. After flipping, begin grilling marinated pineapple slices about two minutes on each side.

PINEAPPLE HAWAIIAN TERIYAKI BURGERS

Pineapple Hawaiian Teriyaki Burgers image

What a Hawaiian Night? Then try these burgers with Pineapple, Red Onions, Teriyaki Sauce and topped with miracle whip or mayonnaise and lettuce and Swiss Cheese, Mmmm Makes you want to do a Hula Dance.

Provided by Cheryl Culver

Categories     Burgers

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp low sodium soy sauce
2 lb lean ground beef
2 Tbsp pineapple juice(from canned pineapple)
2 Tbsp teriyaki sauce
4 slice red onions
4 slice swiss cheese
lettuce
mayo or miracle whip
4 large good buns your choice
4 slice pineapple(drain and reserve juices)

Steps:

  • 1. I start with a grilled beef burger with a Hawaiian kick Sauce topped with a pineapple. swiss cheese and red onions. How to Make them Preheat grill to medium-high. Mix pineapple juice and teriyaki sauce together. Set aside. Mix beef, ginger, garlic, salt and soy sauce in a small bowl. Divide into 4 patties and form into patties slightly larger than your bun. Make a little whole in the center of the burger to prevent it from doming up in the center. It will fill in as your burger cooks. Grill until golden brown and slightly charred (about 3-5 minutes), turning once (cook for 3 minutes on the other side for medium). Baste with pineapple teriyaki sauce as your burger cooks. Try not to press down on your burger with a spatula. It will cause the juices to escape and will create a dry burger! Grill pineapple slices until pineapple have golden brown grill marks on both sides. Toast hamburger buns by placing on grill until grill marks form, this wont take long Do not walk away during this process. Toast can turn to ash in the blink of an eye. Spread mayo on bottom bun. Top with lettuce, burger, Swiss cheese, grilled pineapple, red onion
  • 2. Serve with my Fantastic French Fries

Tips:

  • Use ripe pineapple for the best flavor. Unripe pineapple can be sour and astringent.
  • Grill the pineapple slices over medium heat until they are slightly caramelized and grill marks appear.
  • Cook the burgers to your desired doneness. If you like your burgers medium-rare, cook them for about 4 minutes per side. For medium, cook them for about 5 minutes per side. For well-done, cook them for about 6 minutes per side.
  • Serve the burgers on toasted buns with your favorite toppings. Some popular toppings include lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, and bacon.
  • If you don't have a grill, you can also cook the pineapple slices and burgers in a grill pan over medium heat.

Conclusion:

Pineapple burgers are a delicious and unique way to enjoy this tropical fruit. The sweet and tangy flavor of the pineapple pairs perfectly with the savory flavor of the beef. These burgers are perfect for a summer cookout or any time you're looking for a change from the ordinary. So next time you're firing up the grill, give pineapple burgers a try.
