1 cup chopped dates
1 1/2 cups boiling water
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 eggs
1 3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup chocolate chips ((I use milk))

Steps:

  • Combine dates, boiling water and baking soda. Stir well and set aside to cool.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix well. Stir in cooled date mixture. Add cinnamon, flour and salt and mix until well combined.
  • Pour into a greased 9x 13 pan.
  • Sprinkle brown sugar and chocolate chips evenly over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.

1 cup dates, cut up
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups hot water
1/2 cup margarine
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup nuts, chopped

Steps:

  • Combine the first 3 ingredients; let rest until cool.
  • Cream margarine and sugar, adding eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

1 teaspoon baking soda
½ cup butter
¾ cup white sugar
2 eggs

4 tablespoons butter
½ cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons heavy cream
½ cup chopped walnuts

Steps:
