Tips:

  • Choose ripe pears: Use ripe, firm pears that are not too soft or bruised. This will ensure that the pears hold their shape when baked.
  • Slice the pears evenly: To ensure that the pears cook evenly, slice them into thin, even slices.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter can result in a tough cake. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Spread the streusel topping evenly: Before baking the cake, spread the streusel topping evenly over the batter. This will ensure that the topping is evenly distributed and that it doesn't sink into the batter.
  • Bake the cake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean: This will ensure that the cake is cooked through.
  • Let the cake cool before serving: Allow the cake to cool for at least 30 minutes before serving. This will allow the flavors to develop and the cake to set.
