Time 2h

Number Of Ingredients 5

3 lb powdered sugar
1 lb butter, room temperature
2 c peanut butter
3/4-1 blk paraffin
16 oz chocolate chips

Steps:

  • 1. Combine butter and peanut butter until smooth.
  • 2. Gradually add powdered sugar until well combined. You may need to dump onto a piece of wax paper and knead until all combined (especially if peanut butter is on the dryer side. Jif and Planter's are moister and work well).
  • 3. Pinch off little pieces of the dough and roll into balls. Place rolled balls on a wax lined cookie sheet. Once cookie sheet is full place in freezer. Continue rolling balls until all the dough is gone. Then place that cookie sheet in freezer.
  • 4. In a double boiler melt chocolate and paraffin wax until completely melted.
  • 5. Take out first cookie sheet only. Stick a toothpick or a skewer in a ball and dip into the chocolate mixture, rolling it to make sure they are completely covered. Place back on tray. Repeat. (I use several toothpick to let the chocolate harden)
  • 6. *If you start to run out of chocolate I take small chunks of wax and a handful of chocolate and remelt it. Repeat if needed.

This is my adult son's favorite candy. My mom makes it at Christmas time and it is anticipated by not only my son but the entire family. It has a pleasant grainy texture in the middle that just fills your whole mouth with a satisfying mouth-feel. It keeps well and only gets better with age. This is a Pillsbury recipe and it's...

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 can(s) ready to use vanilla pillsbury frosting supreme
1 c peanut butter
1/4 c butter, softened
2 c graham cracker crumbs
1 can(s) ready to use pillsbury frosting supreme, flavor of your choice.

Steps:

  • 1. In big bowl, mix first 3 ingredients with a fork. Add in crumbs till mixed in. Form into 1 inch balls; refrigerate1 hour. In small pan, heat remaining frosting over low heat. Dip chilled balls in frosting; allow excess to drip off. Put on cooling rack over waxed paper. Let stand at room temperature till dry, about 6 hrs.

Tips:

  • For a creamier filling, use smooth peanut butter.
  • If you don't have a candy thermometer, you can use the cold water test to check if the sugar syrup is ready. To do this, drop a small amount of the syrup into a bowl of cold water. If it forms a soft ball, the syrup is ready.
  • Dip the bonbons in melted chocolate using a fork or toothpick. If you use your hands, the heat from your skin will melt the chocolate too quickly.
  • Place the bonbons on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet to dry. Do not refrigerate the bonbons, as this will cause the chocolate to seize.
  • Store the bonbons in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.

Conclusion:

Peanut butter bonbons are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create these creamy, chocolatey candies that are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat, give peanut butter bonbons a try!
