WHOLE WHEAT & PEANUT BUTTER DOG BISCUITS

Whole Wheat & Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits image

Provided by Ina Garten

Time 1h20m

Yield 10 to 20 biscuits

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 1/2 cups stone-ground whole-wheat flour
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup powdered or dry milk
1/2 cup quick-cooking oatmeal (not instant), plus extra for sprinkling
1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
2 tablespoons toasted wheat germ
1 extra-large egg, lightly beaten
1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water, for egg wash

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
  • In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine the two flours, the powdered milk, oatmeal, peanut butter and wheat germ. With the mixer on low speed, add the extra-large egg and 1 cup of water and mix just until it forms a slightly sticky ball.
  • Dump the dough out on a well-floured board (I use all-purpose flour) and knead it into a ball. Roll the dough out 1/2-inch thick. Dip a cookie cutter in flour and cut out dog bone shapes. Collect the scraps, knead lightly, roll out again and cut more dog biscuits.
  • Place the biscuits on the prepared sheet pan and brush with the egg wash. Sprinkle with oatmeal and bake for 1 hour, until completely hard. Cool and toss.

DOG BISCUITS: PEANUT BUTTER AND PUMPKIN

Dog Biscuits: Peanut Butter and Pumpkin image

I always have these ingredients in the pantry. You can use either all purpose flour or whole wheat, quick cook or old fashioned oats, and chunky or smooth peanut butter. When these are in the oven, the house smells so good that my husband would even try them I think. I love to whip these up for the girls (dogs). It's only fair they get special treats now and again :) I also make these around Christmas and give them to my friends with dogs! Great gift for pet owners!!!

Time 35m

Yield 10 big dog bone cookies, 10-12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup oats
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 eggs
1 cup canned pumpkin
3 tablespoons peanut butter
water, to help dough come together if needed

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Combine dry ingredients in a bowl (flour, oats, salt, and cinnamon) and mix.
  • In a stand mixer bowl, combine the eggs, pumpkin, and peanut butter. Combine the 2 together and start to work the dough. If you don't have a mixer, then just do it by hand.
  • The dough should be dry and stiff. You might need to add just a bit of water.
  • Roll the dough about 1/2-inch-thick and cut with cookie cutters or a knife.
  • Bake on a parchment or silpat lined cookie sheet for about 30-40 minutes, or until hard. The baking time depends on if you are making big treats, or little ones so adjust the times. Little treats I would check at around 15 minutes or so.
  • Store in an airtight container.

PEANUT BUTTER BANANA + FLAX SEED DOG BISCUITS RECIPE - (4.5/5)

Peanut Butter Banana + Flax Seed Dog Biscuits Recipe - (4.5/5) image

Provided by MJH

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 cup whole wheat flour (can be substituted with rice or coconut flour for a grain free option)
1/2 banana, mashed
1/3 cup peanut butter (unsalted)
2 Tbsp ground flax seed
1/4 cup almond milk (unsweetened)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine all ingredients in a medium mixing bowl. Mix ingredients together thoroughly using a spatula until well combined. Roll out mixture on a floured surface to approximately ¼". Cut into desired shapes. Repeat with remaining dough. Place on a nonstick baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use creamy peanut butter. This will make the biscuits more smooth and creamy.
  • Chill the dough before baking. This will help the biscuits hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much.
  • Don't overmix the dough. Overmixing will make the biscuits tough.
  • Bake the biscuits until they are just set. Overbaking will make them dry and crumbly.
  • Let the biscuits cool slightly before serving. This will allow them to firm up and hold their shape.

Conclusion:

Peanut butter biscuits are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that are perfect for any occasion. They are soft, chewy, and full of peanut butter flavor. Whether you enjoy them for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, these biscuits are sure to be a hit.
