Time 55m

Number Of Ingredients 12

4 habanero peppers
4 jalapeño peppers
2 ghost peppers
1 1/2 cups drained and coarsely chopped, jarred roasted red bell peppers (from about a 12-ounce jar - see note below and tips in post for roasting your own, if you prefer)
4 medium garlic cloves
1/2 cup finely diced red onion (from about 1/4 of a medium onion)
1/2 cup sugar
6 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
6 tablespoons pineapple juice
1/4 cup all-natural grape jelly (we use Welch's Natural)
1/4 cup 100% pure fruit seedless red raspberry jelly (we use Smucker's Simply Fruit)
2 tablespoons sriracha

Steps:

  • Remove the stems from the habanero, jalapeño, and ghost peppers. For a less spicy pepper relish, also remove the seeds and ribs (see note below on customizing the heat level). Coarsely chop the hot peppers.
  • In a food processor (we usually use the largest of our Ninja containers), combine the habaneros, jalapeños, ghost peppers, roasted red peppers, and garlic. Pulse until evenly chopped but not finely minced or pureed (about 8 pulses, scraping the sides as needed between pulses - refer to the photo in our post).
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the processed pepper mixture and all other ingredients.
  • Bring to a gentle boil and reduce heat to about medium-low to maintain a simmer (adjusting heat setting as needed). Simmer, uncovered, until the pepper relish is reduced to your liking, keeping in mind that it will continue to thicken a little further as it cools. The exact time this will take can vary from one batch to the next, depending on the size of your pan and how closely you keep it to a simmer, but it will probably take about 45-65 minutes to achieve the consistency you see in my photographs. Also, if you choose to roast your own red peppers (see note below) instead of using jarred peppers, your pepper relish will probably thicken more quickly. (Note that how much you thicken your relish will affect the final yield of the recipe. I have a slightly different yield every time I make this hot pepper relish.)
  • Remove from heat and cool completely before storing in the refrigerator or freezing. See serving suggestions in the post for lots of ideas on how to use this pepper relish.

Categories     Appetizer     Side Dish

Time 50m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 small red onion sliced
3 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp lemon juice (or cider vinegar)
½ tbsp crushed chili flakes (I used 1 tbsp because we love it extra spicy)
¼ tsp kosher salt (or more as needed)
1 ½ lb fresh peaches (cubed into pieces (about 6 -7 peaches))

Steps:

  • Place the onion, sugar and lemon juice in a saucepan. Heat over medium-heat while stirring to melt the sugar.
  • Cook for about 5 - 10 minutes until the liquid thickens and has a syrup-like consistency.
  • Add the salt, crushed chili flakes and cubed peaches. Stir to mix.
  • Heat over medium-heat while stirring frequently until the peaches soften, and the liquid is mostly evaporated. This may take about 20 - 30 minutes.
  • Scrape the relish into glass jars and serve as needed (can be stored in the fridge for about 5 - 7 days).

Time 1h45m

Yield 24

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 pound medium-hot red chile peppers, such as Fresnos or red jalapenos
2 small red or orange bell peppers - stemmed, seeded, ribs removed
½ large onion, peeled and quartered
1 ¼ cups white sugar
¾ cup apple cider vinegar
1 ½ teaspoons pickling salt

Steps:

  • Wearing rubber or latex gloves, trim tops off chiles. Working in batches, pulse chiles, bell peppers, and onion in a food processor until chopped into fine bits, about 1 minute per batch. Transfer to a nonreactive 3-quart pot.
  • Stir sugar, vinegar, and salt into chile mixture and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium and simmer, stirring more frequently toward end of cooking to prevent scorching, until thickened, 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Pour or ladle relish into clean, wide-mouth, half-pint jars, leaving 1/2 inch headspace. Wipe rims clean with a damp paper towel. Let cool to room temperature, about 1 hour.
  • Apply clean lids. Enjoy immediately, store in fridge 2 to 3 weeks, or freeze up to 6 months.

PEACH-HOT PEPPER JAM

Peach-Hot Pepper Jam image

Excite your taste buds with our delicious Peach-Hot Pepper Jam. Our sweet and spicy Peach-Hot Pepper Jam is one of our favorite summertime spreads.

Provided by My Food and Family

Categories     Appetizers & Snacks

Time 1h5m

Yield Makes about 7 (1-cup) jars or 112 servings, 1 Tbsp. each.

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 cups finely chopped peeled peaches (about 1-1/2 lb.)
1 cup finely chopped red peppers (about 1 large red pepper)
1 cup finely chopped jalapeño peppers (about 10)
1 cup HEINZ Apple Cider Vinegar
1 pkg. SURE-JELL Fruit Pectin
1/2 tsp. butter or margarine
5 cups sugar, measured into separate bowl (See tip below.)

Steps:

  • Wash jars and screw bands in hot soapy water. Rinse well. Place jars, right sides up, on rack in bottom of boiling-water canner. Fill canner with enough warm water so it covers tops of jars by at least 1 inch. Bring water to boil; boil jars 10 min. Reduce heat to simmer. Leave jars in hot water until ready to be filled.
  • Place new lids in medium saucepan filled with water; bring water to boil. Turn off heat. Let lids stand in water until ready to be used.
  • Place peaches and peppers in 6- or 8-qt. saucepot. Add vinegar. Stir in pectin. Add butter to reduce foaming. Bring mixture to full rolling boil (a boil that doesn't stop bubbling when stirred) on high heat, stirring constantly.
  • Stir in sugar. Return to full rolling boil and boil exactly 1 min., stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Skim off any foam with metal spoon.
  • Remove jars from water; drain well. Immediately ladle fruit mixture into prepared jars, filling to within 1/4 inch of tops. Wipe jar rims and threads. Cover with 2-piece lids. Screw bands tightly. Place jars on rack, then lower into canner. (Water must cover jars by 1 to 2 inches. Add boiling water, if necessary.) Cover canner; bring water to gentle boil. Process 10 min. Remove jars and place upright on towel to cool completely. After jars cool, check seals by pressing centers of lids with finger. (If lids spring back, lids are not sealed and refrigeration is necessary.)

Tips:

  • Choose ripe and flavorful peaches: This will ensure that your relish has the best possible flavor. Look for peaches that are slightly soft to the touch and have a sweet, fragrant aroma.
  • Use a variety of peppers: This will add depth and complexity to the relish. You can use any type of pepper you like, but some good options include bell peppers, jalapeños, and serrano peppers.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different herbs and spices: This is a great way to customize the relish to your own taste. Some good options include ginger, garlic, cumin, and coriander.
  • Process the relish to your desired consistency: If you like a chunky relish, simply chop the ingredients by hand. For a smoother relish, you can use a food processor or blender.
  • Store the relish in a clean, airtight container in the refrigerator: It will keep for up to 2 weeks.

Conclusion:

Peach and pepper relish is a delicious and versatile condiment that can be used to add flavor to a variety of dishes. It's perfect for topping grilled meats and fish, as a condiment for sandwiches and wraps, or as a dipping sauce for chips and vegetables. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can easily make your own homemade peach and pepper relish. So next time you're looking for a way to add some extra flavor to your meals, give this recipe a try.
