Tips for Making Pan-Fried Oysters:

  • Clean the oysters thoroughly. Use a stiff brush to scrub the oysters under cold running water. Remove any barnacles or grit from the shells.
  • Shuck the oysters. Use an oyster knife to carefully pry open the shells. Remove the oyster meat and discard the shells.
  • Pat the oysters dry. Use a paper towel to pat the oysters dry. This will help them to brown evenly when you fry them.
  • Season the oysters. Season the oysters with salt, pepper, and your favorite seasonings. You can also add a squeeze of lemon juice.
  • Coat the oysters in flour. Dredge the oysters in flour until they are evenly coated. This will help them to brown and crisp up when you fry them.
  • Fry the oysters. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the oysters and cook them for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  • Serve the oysters immediately. Pan-fried oysters are best served hot. You can serve them with your favorite dipping sauce, such as tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, or remoulade.
