Time 4h10m

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 cups water
6 oz Orange Jello Mix
3 ounce instant vanilla pudding
11 ounce can Mandarin oranges, drained
1/2 of a 20 ounce can of Pineapple chunks, drained
One 8 ounce container cool whip

Steps:

  • Mix together 4 cups of water, orange jello mix, and vanilla pudding mix in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil, stirring the whole time to keep clumps from forming. Once it starts to boil, remove from heat. Pour into a heat-resistant container (I usually use a glass baking dish), cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for about four hours. Remove from fridge and break up the jello into chunks. Place in a large bowl. Add in the pineapple, mandarin oranges, and whipped cream and mix around until everything is combined. Keep refrigerated until you are ready to serve.

ORANGE WHIP SALAD

My sister-in-law Margaret asked me to make this for Thanksgiving. I had never heard of it before! I had to scour the internet for a recipe and sort of melded several together to make it the way she wanted it. You can also add pineapple tidbits as well as oranges to the gelatin.

Tips:

  • Use fresh oranges. Fresh oranges will give your salad the best flavor. If you can't find fresh oranges, you can use frozen or canned oranges, but the flavor will not be as good.
  • Choose a good quality vanilla pudding mix. The vanilla pudding mix is the base of the salad, so it's important to choose a good quality one. Look for a mix that is made with real vanilla extract and doesn't have any artificial ingredients.
  • Don't overmix the salad. Overmixing the salad will make it tough. Mix it just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Chill the salad before serving. Chilling the salad will help it to set and will also make it more refreshing.
  • Serve the salad with your favorite toppings. Some popular toppings for orange whip salad include whipped cream, chopped nuts, and fruit.

Conclusion:

Orange whip salad is a classic Southern dessert that is easy to make and always a hit. It's a great way to use up fresh oranges, and it's also a refreshing and delicious summer dessert. If you're looking for a new dessert to try, give orange whip salad a try. You won't be disappointed.
