Steps:
- 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spread the cookie dough out on a cookie sheet to 1/4-inch thickness (about 9 inches by 12 inches) using your fingertips. Bake for 25 minutes. Let cool
- 2. Spread the marmalade over the cookie layer. Sprinkle with nuts.
- 3. In a double boiler over very lightly simmering water, melt the chocolate. Dip a spoon in the melted chocolate and drizzle on top of the cookie. Let cool.
- 4. Cut the cookie into 12 bars or squares. Serve or store in an airtight container.
Tips:
- Use fresh oranges. Fresh oranges will give your squares a brighter, more intense flavor than store-bought orange juice.
- Zest the oranges before juicing them. The zest contains a lot of the orange's flavor, so be sure to zest them before juicing them.
- Use a food processor to make the crust. A food processor will make quick work of the crust, and it will also help to ensure that the crust is evenly mixed.
- Press the crust firmly into the pan. This will help to prevent the crust from cracking.
- Bake the crust for 10-12 minutes, or until it is golden brown. This will help to set the crust and prevent it from becoming soggy.
- Let the crust cool completely before adding the filling. This will help to prevent the filling from becoming runny.
- Use a whisk to combine the filling ingredients. This will help to ensure that the filling is smooth and lump-free.
- Pour the filling over the cooled crust. Be sure to spread the filling evenly.
- Bake the bars for 25-30 minutes, or until the filling is set. You should insert a toothpick into the center of the pan to check for doneness.
- Let the bars cool completely before cutting them into squares. This will help to prevent the bars from falling apart.
Conclusion:
Orange squares are a classic dessert that is perfect for any occasion. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With a few simple tips, you can make orange squares that are sure to impress your family and friends.
