Crockpot Cheese Tortellini and Sausage Recipe - (4.2/5) image

Provided by ukiahgal67

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 (19-ounce) bag frozen cheese tortellini
1 pound sausage (preferably Italian)
1 (10-ounce) bag fresh spinach
2 cans Italian style diced tomatoes
2 (12-ounce) cans low-fat chicken broth
1 (8-ounce block) cream cheese, cut into cubes

Steps:

  • Brown the sausage in a skillet on the stove top until cooked and crumbled. Drain. Add the sausage, spinach, 2 cans of tomatoes, broth, and cream cheese to a 6-quart slow cooker. Stir to combine. Cook in the slow cooker, on low for 5 hours, stirring twice during cooking. Add the tortellini in the last 15 to 30 minutes of cooking time and cook until they are tender.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh, flavorful ingredients will make your tortellini and sausage dish taste its best.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When browning the sausage, make sure not to overcrowd the pan. This will prevent the sausage from cooking evenly.
  • Cook the tortellini according to the package directions: Different brands of tortellini may have different cooking times. Be sure to follow the directions on the package to ensure that the tortellini is cooked properly.
  • Add the cheese gradually: When adding the cheese to the sauce, do it gradually and stir constantly. This will help to prevent the cheese from clumping together.
  • Serve immediately: This dish is best served immediately after it is made. The tortellini will start to absorb the sauce and become mushy if it sits for too long.

Conclusion:

One-pot cheesy tortellini and sausage is a quick and easy meal that is perfect for busy weeknights. It is also a great way to use up leftover sausage. The combination of tortellini, sausage, and cheese is sure to please everyone at your table.
