1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup 115 gr butter or margarine, softened
1 egg

Tips:

  • Choose fresh nutmeg. Freshly grated nutmeg has a more intense flavor than pre-ground nutmeg. Look for whole nutmeg seeds that are firm and heavy, with a smooth, unblemished surface.
  • Grate nutmeg just before using. Grating nutmeg just before using helps to release its flavor and aroma. Use a Microplane zester or a fine grater.
  • Use nutmeg sparingly. A little nutmeg goes a long way, so use it sparingly to avoid overpowering the other flavors in your dish.
  • Store nutmeg properly. Store whole nutmeg seeds in a cool, dark place for up to 6 months. Ground nutmeg can be stored in an airtight container in the pantry for up to 3 months.
  • Experiment with different recipes. Nutmeg is a versatile spice that can be used in both sweet and savory dishes. Try adding it to soups, stews, casseroles, baked goods, and even cocktails.
