Steps:
- Mix in a bowl the cinnamon and cloves.
- Add to this applesauce, oil and the glue.
- Knead this mixture for a few minutes til you have a firm but pliable dough.
- Too wet, add more cinnamon--too dry, add more applesauce.
- Roll the dough out on a surface dusted with cinnamon, 1/4 inch thick.
- Cut out shapes with cookie cutters [x-mas tree, hearts, stars, etc].
- Make a hole in the top with a wooden or metal skewer, this must be large enough for ribbon if you want them for hanging.
- Air dry them for several days on paper kitchen towel, turning them over several times so they don't warp.
- Impatient?.
- A low oven [200°F] for a few hours will also do the trick, don't forget to turn them over.
- When dry, decorate with a ribbon.
- You can also use shallow plaster, cookie and candy molds, press the dough in the cavity, smooth with a rolling pin, ease out of the mold and cut away the excess dough.
- Or roll out the dough, place a piece of decorative lace on the top, using the rolling pin go over it until it has left an impression of the lace, then cut out using the cookie cutters.
- You also get a nice result using cookie stamps.

Steps:
- 1. Min Cinnamon and applesauce, add glue and mix well.
- 2. Sprinkle some cinnamon on the counter and roll out the dough. I rolled mine out about 1/4 inch thick. cut out with your favorite cookie cutter. Make a hole in the top of your ornament for hanging.
- 3. Place them on a cooling rack for 48 hours.
- 4. I used a 4x3 gingerbread cutout and got 8 ornaments, just so you kinda know how many one batch will make. I also bought my cinnamon at Sams club, its cheap there for a big amount.
Tips:
- Choose the right cinnamon sticks: Look for cinnamon sticks that are smooth, unbroken, and have a strong, sweet aroma. Avoid sticks that are cracked or splintered.
- Prepare your cinnamon sticks: Before using, rinse the cinnamon sticks under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel.
- Use a sharp knife: When cutting the cinnamon sticks, use a sharp knife to ensure clean, even cuts.
- Be careful when working with cinnamon oil: Cinnamon oil is a potent essential oil that can cause skin irritation. Wear gloves when handling the oil and avoid contact with your eyes and mouth.
- Store your cinnamon ornaments properly: Once your cinnamon ornaments are complete, store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Conclusion:
Cinnamon ornaments are a beautiful and festive way to decorate your home during the holidays. They are also a great way to use up leftover cinnamon sticks. With a little creativity, you can create a variety of unique and personalized ornaments that will add a touch of warmth and spice to your holiday décor. So get creative and have fun making your own cinnamon ornaments this holiday season!
