Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 7

4 5-ounce salmon fillets (see notes)
1 tablespoon cooking oil (we like avocado oil)
⅓ cup heavy cream or cashew cream (see notes)
Minced parsley (to serve)
1 tablespoon paprika
1 ½ teaspoons EACH: onion powder and garlic powder
½ teaspoon EACH: thyme, oregano, salt, pepper, and cayenne (see notes)

Steps:

  • Mix the seasoning ingredients together in a small bowl. Reserve about ½ tablespoon of the seasoning then sprinkle the remaining evenly over the top of the salmon.
  • Heat the oil in a large nonstick pan over medium-high heat. Add the salmon to the pan, top side facing down. Cook for 5 minutes, or until the side of the salmon that is facing the pan is well-browned (blackened). Flip the salmon over and continue to cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the salmon is fully cooked. It should reach an internal temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove the salmon from the pan.
  • Add the cream and the reserved ½ tablespoon of cajun seasoning to the pan. Simmer for about 1 minute, or until the cream reduces slightly. Serve the salmon with the cajun cream sauce poured over the top and a little minced parsley for color.

NICK'S SALMON WITH CAJUN CREAM SAUCE

Categories     Fish     Mushroom     Steam     Low Carb

Yield makes 5 servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

slamon filet one piece 1 1/2 ft long.
mushrooms 8 oz cut into quarters
garlic 4 cloves minced
cajun spices 1/4 c.
brown sugar 1/2 c. packed
white pepper 1 Tbs
heavy cream 1/2 c
butter 4 Tbs
Jack Daniels Whiskey 1/4 c.

Steps:

  • Rinse filet and place on aluminum foil. Pour Whiskey over salmon. Let sit for 2-3 minutes. Sprinkle garlic over salmon then cover salmon with spices. Cut butter into slices and randomly place butter on salmon. Cover salmon with aluminum foil and fold over sides to make a pocket, so no steam can escape. This keeps liquid inside. After salmon is done, unfold foil and remove top. Cut salmon with spatula into servings and remove. Pour cream into liquid and mix with spoon or fork lightly. Pour over salmon then serve. Goes well with a sweet pineapple rice and a mixed vegetable.

Tips:

  • Make sure the salmon is fresh and of good quality. This will ensure that the dish is flavorful and moist.
  • Do not overcook the salmon. Salmon is a delicate fish and can easily become dry and tough if overcooked. Cook the salmon until it is just cooked through, or to an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Use a good quality Cajun seasoning. This will add a lot of flavor to the dish. You can make your own Cajun seasoning or buy it pre-made.
  • Do not be afraid to adjust the amount of Cajun seasoning to your own taste. If you like things spicy, add more seasoning. If you prefer a milder flavor, use less seasoning.
  • Serve the salmon with your favorite sides. Some good options include rice, potatoes, or roasted vegetables.

Conclusion:

Nick's Salmon with Cajun Cream Sauce is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any occasion. The salmon is cooked to perfection and the Cajun cream sauce is flavorful and creamy. This dish is sure to be a hit with your family and friends. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal, give this recipe a try.
