As we did so, we quibbled about the portions we'd each have. Somehow, it seems she always managed to get more! We still can't get enough of this salad. -Doris Natvig, Jesup, Iowa

Tips:
- Choose the right lettuce. Not all lettuces are created equal. For wilted lettuce salad, you want a lettuce that will hold up well to being cooked, such as romaine, butterhead, or escarole. Avoid delicate lettuces like bibb or mesclun, which will wilt too quickly.
- Wash the lettuce thoroughly. Before you cook the lettuce, be sure to wash it thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris. You can do this by rinsing the lettuce under cold water or by soaking it in a bowl of cold water for a few minutes.
- Cook the lettuce briefly. The key to wilted lettuce salad is to cook the lettuce just until it wilts, but not so long that it becomes mushy. Cook the lettuce for 1-2 minutes, or until it is just starting to soften.
- Use a flavorful dressing. A good dressing is essential for a delicious wilted lettuce salad. You can use a simple vinaigrette, or you can get creative and try a more complex dressing, such as a creamy dressing or a dressing made with bacon or blue cheese.
- Serve the salad immediately. Wilted lettuce salad is best served immediately after it is made. The lettuce will start to wilt more and lose its flavor if it sits for too long.
Conclusion:
Wilted lettuce salad is a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that is perfect for any occasion. With its simple ingredients and flavorful dressing, this salad is sure to please everyone at the table. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy side dish, give wilted lettuce salad a try. You won't be disappointed!
