Categories     Nuts

Time 1h

Yield 1 pie, 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup pecans
1 cup chocolate chips
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie shells

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Cream the butter and sugars with an electric mixer. Add the vanilla, eggs and flour and mix well. Stir in chocolate chips and pecans, and pour into an unbaked pie crust.
  • Bake for 45 and bask in the compliments. No one will ever guess how easy that was!

Tips:

  • Prep in Advance: Start by making the chocolate balls and coating them in sprinkles the day before. This will save time on Derby day.
  • Chill Thoroughly: Ensure the chocolate balls are adequately chilled before dipping them in the white chocolate. This will prevent the chocolate from melting and becoming messy.
  • Use High-Quality Chocolate: Opt for high-quality chocolate chips or bars for the best flavor and texture. It makes a big difference in the final product.
  • Melt Chocolate Properly: Be careful not to overheat the chocolate when melting it. Overheating can cause the chocolate to seize and become unusable.
  • Be Creative with Toppings: Don't limit yourself to sprinkles. Try other toppings like crushed nuts, chopped candy, or even edible glitter for a shimmering touch.
